Bill Elliot

Volunteer

Bill grew up in Edmonton and received a Bachelor of Physical Education degree from the University of Alberta, moved to Wetaskiwin, and had a 32 - year career as a teacher and administrator. During his teaching days, Bill pursued a Master of Education degree, in education administration, from the University of Victoria. As a community volunteer, Bill coached, refereed, and served on many boards, in addition to serving as a City Councillor and Mayor for 28 years. Bill continues to be active on a number of community - service Boards, in Wetaskiwin, and is committed to being a lifelong learner. “Seek first to understand, then, to be understood.” Bill became very interested in airplanes due to his involvement with planning successful air shows, in Wetaskiwin, and having a chance to meet members of the Royal Canadian Air Force Snowbirds. As Mayor, Bill served on the CAHF Board of Directors, in an ex-officious capacity, for 7 years. Being part of that committed and caring group led Bill to wanting to serve, further, with CAHF. Bill’s and his wife, Arlene, have four children, six grand children and two great grand children.
