An Important Message from Max Shapiro, Russ Payson & Jean Menard
Dear Inducted Members and Friends of the Hall,
Canada’s Aviation Hall of Fame exists for one simple reason. To honour the people who helped build this country through aviation, and to ensure their stories continue to inspire future generations.
We are the only organization of our kind in Canada. That makes this work both a privilege and a responsibility. If we do not protect and carry these stories forward, no one else will.
Aviation has always been essential to Canada. It connects communities across vast distances. It supports our economy. It demands skill, courage, and innovation. The individuals honoured by the Hall are not just pioneers of the past. They are role models whose lives still matter today.
But the Hall is about more than preserving history.
When someone walks through an exhibit, stands beside an aircraft, or reads the inspiring stories of our members, something important happens. History becomes human. People feel part of something bigger than themselves. Young people begin to imagine what might be possible for them.
That feeling matters.
Across Canada, the aviation sector faces a growing need for skilled professionals. Pilots, technicians, dispatchers, air traffic controllers, and engineers are in demand, and many current workers are nearing retirement. Inspiration alone is not enough. That is why our focus is expanding. Our goal is to inspire the youth of today to secure aviation’s tomorrow.
The proceeds of our Annual Giving Campaign go towards:
Developing education programs for youth aged 8 to 18
Creating scholarship opportunities for young adults pursuing careers in aviation
Expanding and refreshing exhibits in airports and museums across Canada
Preserving and digitally archiving the stories and artifacts of our Inducted Members
Improving access to these stories through a rebuilt and more searchable website
Together, these efforts allow us to honour the past while actively shaping the future.
We are writing today to invite you to stand with us.
We ask you to consider a meaningful investment in and commitment to Canada’s Aviation Hall of Fame. Your support helps ensure that the legacy of those already honoured continues to inspire young minds, strengthen our aviation community, and support the next generation of aviation professionals.
Annual Giving Circle members receive thoughtful recognition, meaningful updates, and the option to participate in engagement opportunities with the Hall. Participation in public recognition is always optional. All contributions receive an official charitable tax receipt.
This is about paying it forward.
It is about community, continuity, and belief in what aviation represents for Canada. With your support, the Hall will remain strong, relevant, and deeply meaningful for years to come.
Thank you for your continued connection to Canada’s Aviation Hall of Fame and for considering this important commitment.
With respect and gratitude,
Russ Payson
