Dr. John Maris

Dr. John Maris is the President of Marinvent Corporation and its affiliated company, Advanced Aerospace Solutions. AdvAero was named NASA’s 2014/2015 Agency-wide subcontractor of the year for its contribution to the TASAR flight test program, for which John was Principal Investigator and Test Pilot.

John is an Aviation Week and Space Technology Laureate, and was awarded Canada’s oldest aeronautical prize, the Trans-Canada (McKee) trophy, for his contributions to Canadian aerospace. John is a Fellow of the Canadian Aeronautics and Space Institute, a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society, and an Associate Fellow of the Society of Experimental Test Pilots.

John was the 2015/2016 Chair of the Aerospace Industries Association of Canada (AIAC) and was named 2017 Canada’s Defence Executive of the Year by Canadian Defence Review Magazine. John has a Ph.D. in Aviation Safety and Human Factors, is a professional engineer, and has degrees in aeronautical engineering and aviation management.

Dr. Maris was inducted into the Canadian Aviation Hall of Fame in June, 2018.

Dr John Maris est le président de Marinvent Corporation et de la filiale Advanced Aerospace Solutions. Cette dernière a été nommée par la NASA « Sous-traitant de l’année 2014-2015 » afin de souligner sa contribution au programme TASAR pour lequel John était l’enquêteur et pilote d’essai principal.

Pour ses contributions à l’industrie aérospatiale, John a reçu un lauréat d’Aviation Week and Space Technology, ainsi que le trophée Trans-Canada (McKee), la plus ancienne distinction dans le secteur aéronautique canadien. John est Fellow de l’Institut aéronautique et spatial du Canada. Il est aussi Fellow de la Royal Aeronautical Society ainsi qu’Associate Fellow de la Society of Experimental Test Pilots.

John a été le directeur de l’Association des industries aérospatiales du Canada (AIAC) pour l’année 2015-2016 et a été nommé le dirigeant de l’année dans le secteur de la défense par la Canadian Defence Review en 2017. Il est ingénieur et est titulaire d’un doctorat en sécurité aérienne et facteurs humains ainsi qu’un diplôme en génie aéronautique et gestion de l’aviation.

En juin 2018, Dr Maris fut intronisé au Panthéon de l’Aviation du Canada.
