Each year Canada's Aviation Hall of Fame solicits nominations from the general public of individuals and Belt of Orion candidates for induction into the Hall of Fame. The Nominations Review Committee looks for demonstrated outstanding abilities in overcoming challenge, management ability, special talents, peer recognition, responsibility and accomplishments which contribute a lasting benefit to Canada.
The Belt of Orion Award for Excellence was founded by Canada's Aviation Hall of Fame to honour organizations, groups, societies or associations who have made outstanding contributions to the advancement of aviation in Canada. The award is named for a group of bright stars in the galaxy, easy to find in the night sky and associated with legends, including the Greek mythical hunter Orion.
Each year the new Inductees and Belt of Orion Award for Excellence is presented at Ceremony and Gala Dinner, honouring each aviation leader for their contributions to the aerospace industry.
